EVALUATION ACTIVITY 1

in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

these shots are from Kidulthood.

1. in the first shot you see that the production company is established, it uses the colours blue and black which makes the blue stand out. this production company is known as it makes a lot of films like Kidulthood and adulthood which have the same target audience as us.

2.the next shot is of the film title, the audience get to know what the film is called. the font and the name signifies that the film is aimed at youths as the title starts with KID which shows that it at it is about kids, also the hood shows that it is about gangs of youth and that protecting your area has something to do with the film.

3. in this shot you see a gang of youths with hoodies so they are represented to be the bad people like they are in a gang, also they look like they are looking to pick on somebody from their facial expressions. the girl is in the middle, is the girl that they are picking on so you know that this film has something to do about bulling and standing up for yourself.

4. the boy and girl kissing in school signifies that in this film, one of the aspects will be how got the better looking girlfriend, also that youth are represented to have underage sex and that they just go kissing anyone they want to showing that you cannot control the youths in London.

5.this shot shows all of the bully's together looking for how will be their next victim which signifies that in the schools of London that there are a lot of bullies in London schools and that everyone is scared of the these days.

6.in this shot we see that something is been hidden which could be a weapon or it could be drugs which signifies that drugs and weapons are being taken into schools, which depicts that London schools are dangerous and that teenagers are involved all types of crime.

7.in this shot we see two teenagers smoking drugs in school is depicts that you cannot control students, that they can do anything that they want. it also depicts that teenagers can get anyway with anything that they want to. it also shows that this school at the students go to is a dad school, that properly gets bad grades.

8.in this shot there is an confrontation with the teacher and the student and from the facial expression you see that he got more of the authority. so the teachers cannot stand up to the students so the students can do what they want so if they don't class nothing much will happen to them so they are losing out on their education.

9. this shot is an extreme close up of a students lashing out of on somebody, this signifies that if you try to tell the students to do something they don't want to do they will get angry at you. this representation is what all youths are seen to do in London schools.

1. the first shot is of one of the titles, the background is clouds that are red and grey. the red symbolizes the danger and blood that is going to happen in the film. it foreshadows that someone is going to die but leaves the audiences questioning who is going to be the victim.

2. the second shot is an establishing shot of London, it shows where the film is set and also we wanted it in the dark to show that when the sun goes down the the crime begins, this foreshadows that something bad is going to happen.

3.this shot is a shot of three shot classes having vodka being poured into it but instead of the drink increasing we reversed it on Adobe After Effects so the drinks gets less as more is being poured out.we also made it black and white to give it more of an effect. the effect on the audience is that it gives off an enigma so the audience don't know what is happening. this draws the audience more in to watch the film and see how everything ties up.

4.in this shot you have a CCTV of terry walking which depicts where ever you go you are being watched and that the area that Terry is in is a bad area because police are monitoring it with the CCTV cameras. it effects the audience because they begin to think that something is going to happen because terry is being watched, like he is going to caught in a trap.

5. in this shot, there is a confrontation with Terry and Myrin which signifies that in the film there is going to be a battle between characters for who is the most supervisor person. because of this the genre becomes a more clearer. this shot shows the tension between these to characters.

6. in youth slag this is a shot of youth jamming which is when teenagers come together and drink and take drugs . an effect is put on the shot to show that they are so high that they are no more aware of what they are doing. this shot is an introduction to Josephine. this is the representation that is given to the youth of London.

7.this is a shot of the cocaine, showing that youth enjoy taking drugs. we put ma red filter on the drugs tom show the danger of drugs and to make the drugs be noticed by the audience. even though the drugs are dangerous the teenagers are seen not to care.

8. this is a shot of a split screen of the three main characters, this shot connects all three characters together so it shows the audience who are the main characters. as Terry has the biggest section shows that terry is the main attention. we put some effects on the shot to that they are not happy the way everything is going. like they do not know how they are anymore.

9.last shot is of the main title the background is red to foreshadow that there will be a death in the film and it attracts the audience to watch on to find out who is going to be killed.

who who be the audience for your media product?



our target audience is 16-27 years old, male and female. we chose this target audience because our film is based on characters this age range and also every youth knows about what goes on in the streets of London from taking part in it or seeing it on the news. also we included most aspects that youth are involved in for example things like parties, drugs and gang wars. as we our genre is drama we portrayed the lives that youth are living in this day and age.



to find out what audience enjoy watching we did some research which our help us make our target audience:

we found out that youth prefer drama's and so we decided to aim our opening at youth.

Liam also can relate to the characters in the film that get robbed as he has been robbed a couple of times. also the aspects that he is faced with everyday are included in the film.

what have your learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
when planning we decided that we was going to use the following things and what for
  • computer- to put our project together
  • mobile- to contact each other
  • marantz voice recorder- to record voice over part
  • digital camera- to take pictures
  • tripod- to keep camera steady
  • video camera- to record outside school
  • HD camera- record in school

these decisions where made in the several meeting that we had.

the technologies that we used.

we used the computer so that we could be able to use different types of software's and the Internet. Also we as going to store our project on the computer. The programmes we used on the computer:

1. Adobe Premier Pro
Adobe Premier Pro was used to edit our opening and put everything together like soundtrack, titles and order of footage. we had a tutorial were we were able to learn how to edit and use different functions on the programme that would help make our editing look good.

2. Adobe After effects we used Adobe affects to create effects for our opening, we also used it to make our production logo and titles, after effects allowed us to make our opening more attractable. we was able to use it after we had been given a tutorial and anything that we did not know how to use we we watched demos which showed use step by step what to do.

3. Photoshop Photoshop was used to edit our profile pictures. it was my first time using photoshop so i was able to learn how to brighten the picture and add text around the image to annotate it.

4.Google images Google images was used to find images for my moodboard and to find images for my blog. Google images helped because it helped my to make my blog more presentable

4.Google web search engine Google help with the research that i needed to do before planning my opening. Also we was able to find out a lot of sites that would be useful to use like free sounds, we was going to get our soundtrack from this website but Duane made an excellent soundtrack fitted more with the theme.

5.Windows Media Player We imported the opening into a file that would play on windows media player from Adobe Premier Pro so that we all would have access to it and share it with friends so that we would be able to get feedback and see whys to improve the opening.

6.Blogger Blogger was used to put our planning and researching together and to show what all happened in the production of the opening.

7.YouTube YouTube was used to view different types of openings for our research, also to listen to different types of music to see what genre will got best with our opening, also we was able to watch tutorials to see how to do certain things.

8.soundcloud we used soundcloud to upload our soundtrack onto this and then share it onto our blog.

9.Vimeo we loaded our rough cut, final cut and preliminary task onto vimeo so that we could share it onto our blogs and that the play quality would be good.

10.slideshare slideshare was used to upload PowerPoint's onto our blogs

11.cubase
was used to create our soundtrack on.
12. Marantz voice recorder
we used this to record our voiceover
we used the mobile phones so that we would be able to contact each other for help, schedule meeting and share ideas.
we used a digital camera to take pictures of our characters and to take pictures of our locations, i already knew how to use the cameras so i found the camera easy to use and found it simple to download the images onto the computer.
we used the video camera to record outside of school and we used the HD Camera to record in school. the video camera and Hd camera were harder to use as i did not know how to set up the camera and how to change the setting so we had a tutorial and i learnt how to function the camera effectively, also we learnt how to position the camera so that we could hide the shadows and that the lightening would not be too bright or too dim.
we used the tripod to keep the camera steady.
we learned how to use the lights in the camera room to make sure that our lightening is correct.
Using these technologies allowed our production to to be made. also these technologies helped us to make our production the best that it could be because we had a variety of things to use.
i have learnt how to:
  • use video cameras correctly both HD and digital
  • use adobe premier pro and adobe after effects
  • position the camera correctly so that the lightening is correct and that their are not any shadows
  • i learn how film producers put films together.

When working on my preliminary task, there was not that much that was required of me to know and to do. whereas with the opening there was a lot more that was needed to do and there was more skills that needed to be imputed into the opening. in the preliminary task editing was just cutting we was not using editing techniques. in the final product i learn how to make the footage fade and dissolve whereas in the preliminary task all i had to was cut. i learnt how to add sound to the footage and how to extract the footage from sound and how to put then together. while working on the opening i learnt how to use the camera properly like how how to screen the video setting from wide to normal and how to set up the sound settings on the HD camera. in the final product i learnt how to position the camera so that you avoid the light being too bright or too dark, also how to avoid shadows. i learnt how to use the filming room properly like working the lights.

in the production of the final product i was able to learn how to use programmes like adobe premier pro and adobe after effects, how to annotate on YouTube and how to use photoshop. after learning how to use these programmes, they allowed me to be able to enhance the quality of our final product. also we started using the tripod in the final product which improved the camerawork because the camera was steady.

in the preliminary task i learnt how to add basic title fonts on Adobe Premier Pro but with the opening of the film, i was using adobe after affects to make our titles and production logo, i learnt after having a tutorial that using this program that i would be able to add effects to the titles and make it more exciting.

i learnt how to add effects like a red filter which we used in the drug scene to show the drugs more. another effect that i learnt is how to make the colour go black and white and reverse the action, we used this with the smoke scene and the alcohol scene.

PRODUCTION BRIEF

Opening Sequence Title – Estate of Mind- 2 minutes

Group Members

Our group has four members; Josephine, Terry, Duane and Me. Josephine, Terry and Me will be doing the acting and on of us will film when not acting. Duane will be doing the editing and making of soundtrack.

Content Overview

The film follow the life’s of to young south London teenagers trying to find a way to escape their lifestyle but are really leading themselves to their death. Josephine is a 17 year old mum who struggles to control being a mum, a student and a broke drug addict. As she tries to quit the addiction she finds herself get more addicted which makes her loose everything she has. She is wanted by her abusive ex boyfriend, who is her drug dealer because he wants his money.Terry is also 17 years old trying to make something of his life but finds himself confined to selling drugs on a estate but there are other dealers who want to see him dead so he starts to carry weapons. When he gets to a dead end he realizes that “Bad boys don’t have to stay bad forever” and changes his life proving society wrong that teenagers can change.

Josephine and terry fall in love. Terry tries to get Josephine out of the trouble she is in and get her child back but this just makes Josephine ex boyfriend, Terry’s enemy mad. Terry gets killed and Josephine escapes.

Target Audience

Our target audience is both male and female teenagers from different backgrounds, different likes and dislikes because every teenager knows about the drug dealers, gangs, weapons and killings whether it is from seen on the news or in real life. The film includes everything that is happening in real life from selling drugs on an estate to robbing teenagers on the streets for no reason. Every teenager knows about what goes on, on the streets that they live on especially if they live in London.

Research

In researching for our opening we looked at films and programs that are dramas and are targeted at teenagers. From this research we were able to see what type of things interests and attract teenagers to the program/ movie. It then gave us an idea of what are opening was going to include to make our film exciting and an attractable opening. Also from watching mainly dramas we was able to see what conventions a drama has, that we need to include. Our main influence was Kidulthood.

How will we check the movies success

To see if our opening is a success we will show it to the class and a fewer friends to see if they would watch this film. We expect that we will get a positives and negatives, which we want so that we will be able to improve our film to make sure that we attract as much of our target audience as we can. After we have improved the film opening we will re-show it and see what the audiences think about it, this way we make sure that our opening will be the best it can be and the way the audience wants it.

The problems that we may encounter:

  • Not all of us are based at one site so we will not be able to meet during breaks to discuss and work on our films
  • We will only have certain days which we can film because of other subjects which may cause a problem because other people may need to use the cameras on days that we are free to us
  • We will not be able to take the HD camera off school site
  • We will need a lot of help with using Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe After Effects as we have never used them before.

SAUL BASS



Saul bass was a graphic designer and also an award winning filmmaker. Bass is most famous for his animated title sequences. He has worked for some of the greatest film makers in Hollywood.

He studied at Brooklyn College in the Art student’s league. He started designing prints for films adverts, then he made a film poster for “Carmen Jones” with the filmmaker Otto Preminger. After that Preminger was impressed so he let Bass design the title sequences for the film. Bass used this opportunity to make something amazing, which he did making become known in the industry.

After making some film title sequences, he moved away from it to start using computerized titles and his first computerized title sequence was Casino 1995

Some of the most famous things that he designed were the sixth AT&T Bell System logo; he also created the AT&T’s “globe” logo. Another famous thing he designed was the Continental Airlines 1968 “jet stream” logo which now the most known airline logo of the 1970s

RESEARCH-KYLE COOPER



Cooper specializes in creating title sequences for opening and closing of films, television show and videogames. He is seen to always amaze and entertain the audience. Cooper has directed over 160 film titles. He foundered two international film design companies, Prologue films and Imaginary Forces. Cooper has a MFA in graphic design which he got from Yale School of Art.
Coopers greatest influence to become his profession is Stephen Frankfurt’s opening title sequence for “To Kill a Mockingbird”. He created the Marvel Comics logo which was first on the original Spider-Man movie and now has been used in many Marvel based films

INFLUENCES

Kidulthood

Kidulthood was a major influence on our short film, there are very few successful films which fitted into our genre and theme, our film was based on drugs and violence and so was Kidlulthood, this film inspired us to create a short film which also gave a representation of youths in today's society, it is fair to say that most films of this particular genre represent young people in a negative way, we were out to do the complete opposite, yes we did portray youths at the start in a way which could be deemed negative, however, in the end we turned the story around completely and sent out a positive message the the viewers of this film.

FEEDBACK FROM ROUCH CUT

On Thursday 18th March 2010 we showed our opening to our class mates.

This is the feedback we got:
  • interesting and good
  • attracts audiences
  • excellent soundtrack, it goes with the timing of the titles
  • titles look professional
  • good effect on the dancing adds to the drunk effect
  • the "wasn't always like this" needs to be recorded again
  • some scenes are too dark and needs to be re-shot
  • cannot tell the narrative
  • make the main title last longer
  • make drugs last longer

we will be taking this feedback and using it to improve our opening.

Improvements we are making:

  • taking out the wasn't always like this or re-doing it
  • re-shooting today the dark scenes
  • adding extra shots to the drug scene to make it longer
  • making the titles last longer

we wanted to make the audience not know the narrative so that they can try to just what is going to happen in the film and so that they can try to link the characters together. we mainly wanted the audience not to know the narrative so that they would be attracted and interested to find out what happens in the film.

I was given the task of making the production logo for the opening.

TITLES

In this screen print is showing the movement of the letter. This was done on Adobe After Affects. The background is like smoke red and grey, the red is to symbolize the danger and the grey is to smbolize the mysteroius effect.

The black in the screen print is now changed to grey.


MAIN TITLE MAKING

We each started making our own main title and we was going to see which one most suited the film.

We was using Adobe After Effects to make the titles and we would import it into Adobe Premier Pro where the opening was stored

SYNOPSIS


The film follow the life’s of to young south London teenagers trying to find a way to escape their lifestyle but are really leading themselves to their death. Josephine is a 17 year old mum who struggles to control being a mum, a student and a broke drug addict. As she tries to quit the addiction she finds herself get more addicted which makes her loose everything she has. She is wanted by her abusive ex boyfriend, who is her drug dealer because he wants his money.

Terry is also 17 years old trying to make something of his life but finds himself confined to selling drugs on a estate but there are other dealers who want to see him dead so he starts to carry weapons. When he gets to a dead end he realises that “Bad boys don’t have to stay bad forever” and changes his life proving society wrong that teenagers can change.

TREATMENT

For our film opening we wanted to incorporate the things that teenagers come into contact with whether it is from seen on the news or in real life

  • Drugs

  • Theme of escapism

  • Street reputation.

We wanted our title to represent the film and what the film is about. After we had done so editing we started to come up with titles. Each of us would pick their own name and we would see who’s was the best.

The titles that where suggested:
· Estate of Mind
· Here today gone tomorrow
· The better life
· Eyes of a teenagers

The title that we decided that we was going to use as Estate of Mind because the film is based on a estate and to survive on the estate you need to have your mind focused to make sure that you are not killed.

We then came up it a statement for our film opening; An Estate is not only a low class building it is a state of mind... Estate of mind

It starts with an establishing shot of London to show that it is set in London. Then cuts to a drug scene with a few teenagers taking drugs. After that terry is seen walking into the estate that he sells drugs but then is robbed and threatened.

In our opening you cannot tell the narrative as we wanted to make it attract the audience to carry on watching the film to find out what happens at the end. We do indicate who the main characters are.

This is how the opening is going to go;
We had the production logo followed by the Solomon pictures with the soundtrack beginning. After we have the establishing shot followed by a title. Then we have a bird’s eye view of terry walking followed by a title. Next we have a close up of vodka bottle pouring drinks but the drink gets less than more followed by a title. Then we have a long shot of terry being followed by me who is a drug dealer who wants to see terry dead, then a title. After we have a close up on the vodka bottle to show that the teenagers are drinks alcohol, then a title. After we have a extreme close up of Josephine’s lips as she smokes followed by a title. Then we have the confrontation of terry and me followed by a title. Next we have a dancing scene that has an effect to show that they are drunk followed by a title. After a cocaine scene followed by a title. Then a scene terry putting the drugs into a locker followed by a title. Then a spilt scene with all three main characters and a voice over followed by the main title of the film.

LOCATION



Estate - South Norwood
This is the estate that our sequence is based on. we used this estate for various shots including our city view shot and our tracking shot of Terry. Also we used the inside of the block to do the terry and Myrin confrontation scene.

Car park-South Norwood
This is where we track terry down as if we were to be expecting him. In this location we uses a mixture of birds eye view and close ups as he is getting followed by Myrin.


Living room- Penge
This is where the drug and dance scene was shot. We wanted to film it in a place that looked junky but we couldn't so we just ended up using a normal looking living room with a centre table were the drugs could be the main part of the room.


Locker-South Norwood
This is were we shot the locker scene with terry using the idea of a trunk shot which would show off the skills and and camera angle knowledge that we have.

SOUNDTRACK

We wanted the sound track to based around hip hop and grime because those are the two main genres that our target audience listen to. So by making it those genres it might attract them to the opening.also it would suit the theme of the opening. Duane was given the task of making the music because we was unable to get permission to use the track we liked so Duane said that he would be able to make it. For him to find know what a hip hop and grime genres contained he had to go and do some research. the programme used to produce the soundtrack was Cubase because it provides you with different sounds which you can put together to make a track. certain instruments where used to emphasise the theme of the opening for example the orchestral chords creates the drama and tension, the sharp snares create a dramatic effect of danger. the tempo is fast to highlight the signifying the fast paced lives the character live. Also fast paced is on of the conventions of the genres grime and hip hop.

4 MEETING

In the last meeting we decide that Terry was going to make the titles of the opening, Duane was going to make the music that will go with the opening, I was going to make the production logo and Josephine was going to do some editing and decide what footage we should use. When we had done are parts we was going to put it all together.

3 MEETING

In are third meeting we decided that we will have to re-film what we filmed because the filming what not bring out the aspects that we wanted it to. Also we wanted to include more scenes to the opening so that it will attract our audience. We added a drug scene, estate scene, a fight scene between terry and me and two school scenes. We decided that we were going to film Thursday during the school holidays.

In are second meeting we decided that African comedy was not going to work so we decided that we as going to make a opening about things teenagers go though in the 21st century. So we wanted to incorporate some of the following things;

  • Addiction
  • Weapons
  • Gangs
  • Theme of escapism

  • Low class lifestyle
  • Street reputation.

We decided to make a African comedy opening about a African that is new to England and does not know how the whole system works. He was going to get himself into trouble at school and with the police over silly issues which were going to make the comedy. We decided that Terry was going to be the new African to the country; Josephine was going to be the mother of Terry and Anisha was going to be the receptionist.

Target 1: finish filming by Monday 8th March 2010 so that we are able to start editing in our Tuesday lesson.

Target 2: finish editing by Tuesday 23rd March so that we can focus on finishing our blogs and prepare to do our evaluations.

Target 3: upload our opening onto YouTube by Tuesday 30th March 2010

PRODUCTION LOG

Day 1:

We started by recording a scene in the dance room at Sixth Form. The scene was about the drug addicts being in a rehab centre trying to get over drugs. In this scene we had Terry the drug dealer, Josephine the drug addict, Georgina the counselor and extras. Georgina was giving the counseling then we had a shot of terry explaining why he is addicted to drugs followed by Josephine explaining why she is addicted to drugs.

Then they leave the room and then there is a track on Terry explaining how everything has changed which is meant to leave the audience interested to find out what happened that everything changed. After that the next shot was a track on Josephine explaining how everything has changed and then she receives a phone call from the drug dealer that she owes money to.

Next scene was my character dealing to Terry and the Josephine enters the scene and she has a confrontation with me about the money she owes me. The last shot for the day was tracking shot of Terry on the phone, creating interest about what is about to happen.

Day 2: Wednesday 17th February 2010

It was planned that we just coming into school to collect the equipment and film during the weekend but we decided that we should make the school one of are locations. We made this decision so that when it comes to editing we will have a various variety of shots that we can use to link together.

By us filming in school we was able to use more equipment that was not allowed of the premises and receive more advises on lighting, sound and filming techniques that will enhance the quality of are filming.

Our first scene was of terry hiding the drugs inside his school locker, we used a lot of camera angles to show such as close ups, medium shots, long shots and a shot with the camera inside of the locker. We shot these shots a couple of times so that when it comes to editing we have a variety of shots to use and also we was making sure that we lessened the risk of having to re-film.
The next scene we shot an extreme long shot of me in the school canteen, this was to show me as a very secretive character and that they may be something worrying me. The last scene is of Josephine getting into the left and Duane leaving the left and walking away.

Day 3: Monday 1st March 2010

Duane, Josephine’s and her friends meet up at Josephine’s house to film the drug scene. Terry and I were unable to meet up with them. There’s a shot of everyone taking the drugs and drinking alcohol. The next shot was a close up on Josephine smoking.

Day 4: Monday 8th March 2010

We meet up at about 6:30 pm to film the establishing shot of London and the area that we are set in. the next thing that we filmed was of a birds eye view of Terry walking into the estate. The next shot was of me following terry into the estate. After that it is a shot of me pushing Terry up against the wall.


Day 5: Thursday 18th March 2010

We meet up about 6:30 pm to re-shot what we shot on 8th March because the shot of the 8th was to dark so we was going to try and make it lighter.

SLEEPING HOLLOW



Sleeping Hollow has the conventions of a horror film because the setting is dark with dark clouds creating a macabre setting. It also depicts that it is early morning and is about to rain, the rain foreshadows that something bad is going to happen. Also in horror films they have the howling wolf which they had in Sleeping Hollow. The music chances tempo quick so it creates tension and suspense foreshadowing that something is going to happen, also that it is going to happen to the first character we see (Johnny Depp). But it then goes soft and we see a village depicting that we are getting closer to the action. Also the music gets softer because the village is quiet and empty all the people have fled away like something is going to happen. The people that are still in the villages close their widows so that they feel protect or that they are shutting out Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp looks scared himself, like he knows something is wrong.
We see a grave yard showing that a lot of deaths have happened and graveyards are one of the conventions in horrors. We see another grave yard but a bigger one with a dark house. The graveyard foreshadows that deaths have happened or about to happen in that dark big house and in horror films they always have a dark big spooky house where everything takes place.

One of the conventions is forests and Sleeping Hollow is set next to the forest in the opening scenes. The title comes up and then they become like water because they are no more still then they fade away depicts that maybe characters are going to be killed on by one leaving Johnny Depp the last one alive.

FILM ANALYSE



“Bridget Jones Dairy- Edge of Reason”

“Bridget Jones Dairy- Edge of Reason” is a Working Title film. The genre and the narrative are made very clear, in “Bridget Jones Dairy- Edge of Reason” you can denote that the film is a romantic comedy about two characters who have meet each other, like each other, represented as a happy couple in the equilibrium but has problems like how Mark is presented as a smart, formal character and Bridget is connoted as a unintelligent, childish, informal character. As in most romantic comedies you can see that they are not good for each other but you know that they will become the perfect couple in the new equilibrium.

The lighting in “Bridget Jones Dairy- Edge of Reason” is high key lighting as the equilibrium is being represented also it is a new year and a new start for Bridget and it is a perfect start as she is has a new boyfriend and she feels pleased. The happy mood of Bridget is represented by the high key lighting.

“Bridget Jones Dairy- Edge of Reason” is set London which again signifies that in London you are able to find your perfect love and denote that it is the perfect love when there is the scene of them bonding in the country side. The country side is connoted to be peaceful, beautiful, and complete which denotes the love that Bridget and mark have for each other.

Bridget Jones character is irresponsible, unreliable, unpredictable. That is why she does not fit with Mark who is a smart, intelligent, orderly character. So he and she do not have anything in common and that foreshadows that she will not fit in with his associates.

There are a lot of close ups used in “Bridget Jones Dairy- Edge of Reason” show the how passionate the couple is about each other and how they care for each other signifying that they are meant for each other depicting that when they break up they will see that they are meant for each other and will get back together to creating the new equilibrium.

In “Bridget Jones Dairy- Edge of Reason” the music effects is a love song to show that film is a romantic comedy and that Bridget Jones is in the perfect love. The target audience for both films are females aged 20-40, females that want the prefect love and are interested in love stories.

PRELIMINARY TASK EVALUATION

The group that I was in had four group members which were Josephine, Terry, Duane and Me.
The criteria for the preliminary task was that you must have a character opening a door, a character crossing a room, a character sitting down in a chair opposite to another character, dialogue, match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.

Before we started planning for the task we did some research, which was watching on YouTube some other AS media students preliminary task which gave a indication of what we really had to do for the task, also we evaluated their tasks so we could see what good things we could do and what areas the students did not do so well that we could improve.

Then we got into groups and decided what was going to happen in our preliminary task, we decided that it was going to have a spy theme and about three spies that meet in a café and have a discussion. We chose the spy theme because we wanted to make something exciting and also we wanted it to be secretive.

After that we did some research into editing techniques and found some that we were going to use.
Next we made our story board so that we could know what shots we were going to use and where we were going to use them and how long each shot was going to last.

After that we were given the cameras to go and start filming, we managed to get all the filming done that we needed to and the café that we choice to be one of are locations allowed us to go in and film. Our actors were Josephine, Terry and Natalia; we used these people to act because they were available and are able to act.
We chose the outside of the school to show where the spies chasing each other to the secret location, we chose it because it was the easiest building to get assess to. The next location is the high street to show the chase and also to show the everyday settings. We chose the café to represent the secret place and to show that spies can meet anywhere.

We then viewed what we had produced and saw that we needed to redo the conversation between the characters because it was to soft so we could not hear, also we saw that we had not covered all of the criteria for the task. We decided that we should just do the filming from the café.

The things that went well in are task is that we managed to do all the criteria that were needed for the task. Another thing that when well was the acting in the task, the next thing that went well was that we were able to do all the filming that we needed to do. Also getting the use of the café went well because we had not problems with permission. Another thing that went well was that we was able to use a variety of camera shots in the task.
Things that could have gone better was the dialogue, there was a lot of noise in the café so it was hard to hear the dialogue in the café. The second thing that could have gone better is lighting that was in the café, it would have been better if it was brighter, thirdly if the café would have been less busy so that we could not have to stop filming because of customers walking in and out.
